Caribbean Sailing Yachts, LTD. (CSY) was the first bareboat charter company in the Caribbean. Founded in the late 1960's by Dr John Van Ost, a dentist from Tenafly New Jersey, CSY created the Caribbean chart industry while manufacturing its own fleet of robust sailing vessels - and in the process, the first two Caribbean charter bases were opened in Tortola and St Vincent. Dr Van Ost also invented the Sail-Away Plan, in which the yacht was fully provisioned with a 7-day menu plan upon guest arrival. CSY also generated its own manuals and charts for the convenience of its guests.
